Birth Year Registration Help
To determine the age of your player for the Fall 2016/Spring 2017 seasonal year,
just subtract the birth year of your player from the year the season ends.

Notes:
1. This year the R2 Academy program will only be U7 and U8 ages. All Region 2 U9 teams will play in XL.
U7 will play 4v4.
U8 will be grandfathered into last year's format and play 5v5
2. XL stands for X-League and represents all short sided games. They are played in geographical zones for U9 and U10 (North - Region 1 & 2. Metro - Region 3 & 4. South - Region 5 & 6) In preparation for the merger into the SCL, U11 and U12 will have statewide play for the top teams in premier and d1.
U9/U10 will play 7v7.
U11/12 will play 9v9
3. SCL stands for State Competition League. The teams in the SCL play statewide. This generally consists of the premier bracket, d1 and d2 visions.
4. IRL stands for Inter-Regional League. The teams in the IRL play in a geographical zone. North IRL consists of Region 1 and Region 2 teams. Metro IRL consists of Region 3 and Region 4. South IRL consists of Region 5 and Region 6. Most IRL divisions are labeled North/Metro/South A, B, C, etc....
5. With birth year registration, the U15s will consist of 8th graders and 9th graders. As a result, U15s will play one EXTENDED season. Games will take place in the Fall and Spring and consist of ONE season. There will be no promotion/relegation between fall and spring. 9th graders are encouraged to play with their competitive teams vs playing high school soccer as a freshman. For more information concerning this age group, please contact the state office. UYSA rules do not prevent a player from playing competitive soccer at the same time as high school. However, currently the Utah High School Association does not allow players to play in competitive games in the same sport and at the same time as the high school team. UYSA has been in communication with UHSA concerning the dilemma of our U15 9th graders. Any questions regarding the UHSA rules please contact that association directly.
5. The oldest bracket will now be U19. For the Fall 2016/Spring 2017 season this will include U19s and U20s. The players no longer have to be registered in high school to play in this bracket.
